What is WebP?
WebP supports lossy and lossless compression and transparency. This tool encodes using the browser canvas quality setting. Actual size depends on the image and quality; no fixed saving or smaller-than-original result is guaranteed.
How to convert PNG/JPG to WebP

How do I set the quality?
A higher quality value means a better-looking image but a larger file. For most web images, 75–85 is a good balance between quality and size. Raise it for logos and screenshots where sharpness matters, lower it for photos where size matters, and compare the results.
WebP vs PNG vs JPG — which should you choose?
PNG has traditionally suited transparency, logos, and sharp-edged graphics, while JPG suits colorful photos. WebP combines the strengths of both — transparency plus smaller size — so for web use targeting modern browsers it is usually the most efficient choice. If you need even higher compression, consider AVIF as well.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Every conversion runs entirely in your browser using the Canvas API, on your own device, and files are never sent to a server. It even works offline, so private or sensitive images stay safe. You can add several images at once and download them individually or together as a single ZIP.
Can I convert WebP back to PNG or JPG?
This tool focuses on converting to WebP. To go the other way, use the PNG converter or JPG converter. Note that JPG is a lossy format, so it won’t perfectly restore the original PNG’s lossless quality.
Which browsers support WebP?
Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Safari, Opera, and other modern browsers all support displaying WebP and this tool’s conversion. Only some very old browsers may display it with limitations.
